NOTE: (2010-12-29) - 21:5-9 - It was opportune that the disciples asked Jesus these questions concerning their Temple destruction and the end of this 2000 year age. For the answers they received from our Lord, much of it applies to us also. Notice especially Jesus' warning that deception will be prevalent concerning Himself at the end. False Messiahs willappear!
His answers are only clearto those who are disciples, and who wait on Him in meditation over His Word. George Whitefield and George Muller waited on God on their knees for hours daily. They both were very clear on these and many other issues, and thiswas their secret. There are noshort-cuts. We either make time in this manner, or we continue to be unclear and in doubt concerning these issues.
21:10-28 - Issue after issue Jesus volunteers at this point. Peter and John were present to receive these teachings, and from their epistles and writings which followed some years later, we can see the good use they put to what Jesus shared here.
21:29-36 - Then He spends time on a special subdivision here with the parable of the fig tree (Israel), and all the trees. We are to watch what takes place among all nations at the end, as well as for Israel. Signs are extremely clear today. Here we can read signs in the United States, United Europe, the United Nations, the Arab nations, and the third world nations. It allfits together. We can see how proper it was for Jesus, the Son of :man; the Son of God; God's Messiah - to bring all this forth to His disciples, and for us today. We areat the end of this age, the age of grace. We should avail ourselves of this fading opportunity with all of our hearts. Watch and pray, for the word Jesus gave His disciples, is still appropriate for us today.
21:37-38 - It is interesting that the Holy Spirit gave a whole paragraph of 2 verses to Luke at this point. As we see the day by day routine of Jesus as His last week of ministry on earth prior to His Passion, it helps us to gain perspective on this whole time. J.A.W.
